What does it feel like to be hypnotised? Will I lose control, be made to do anything silly, or give away any secrets?
Different people have different experiences during hypnosis. Some people say that their body feels like a lead weight, and others say that they feel as though they are floating. Most people agree that it is a very pleasant experience as they are more relaxed than they have ever been before.
There is nothing dangerous about being hypnotised. You may feel a little disorientated for a few minutes immediately after the session, and you may also feel a bit more tired than usual that evening. You should leave the session feeling very relaxed and more positive about whatever it was that you wanted to have hypnotherapy for in the first place.
One thing that hypnosis cannot do is to make a person do anything that would go against their normal moral ethics. If you were ever given suggestions under hypnosis that you didn't agree with morally, then you would immediately come out of hypnosis.
Regardless of how deeply relaxed and passive a person may seem to be during hypnosis, they actually remain in full control at all times; they are able to speak if necessary, and could stand up and leave the room if they wanted to do so. In fact, during hypnosis a person is highly sensitive to what is going on around them, and the subconscious mind is constantly taking care of their safety and well-being.
